St Aubin sur Mer

St Aubin sur Mer is home to “Le Square des Canadiens” a memorial dedicated to the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment, Fort Garyhorse and the 48th Royal Marine Commandos who landed here on D Day morning.

Like today St Aubin sur Mer was a built up residential area which in 1944 caused the Canadians many difficulties in landing and clearing the town building, by building.

Today you are still able to see the German defensive position on the sea wall with its gun still in place.
