Abbaye dí Ardenne

The Abbaye d’Ardenne was the site of one of the most terrible atrocities suffered by Canadian troops during the Battle of Normandy.This beautiful old abbey was the headquarters of Kurt Meyers, 12th SS Panzer Division, Hitlerjugend (Hitler youth) who executed Canadian POW’s in the garden.  Today the garden is a memorial to the young men who lost their lives is such a terrible way.This event and the atrocities that took place at Chateau d’Audrieu led to Kurt Meyers being tried for war crimes.
