Hilman WN17 , German 736 Reg HQ
One of the real joys of touring Sword beach and the advance inland, is to visit the German 736 Regiment HQ , Oberst Krug’s command bunkers and defenses overlooking Sword beach. See the artillery ranges still painted on the observation post. The view of Sword beach is spectacular
Follow the 1st Suffolk Battalion ,under Lt Col Goodwin, as they move inland and attack the German HQ with their supporting units.
Hilman is a brilliant site run by the Les Amis du Suffolk Reg , with restored underground HQ bunkers , defensive bunkers and trenches, a real gem.
Choose a British Sword beach tour or a specific private tour following the 8th Brigade, or just the 1st Suffolk Battalion to include this site and learn about Capt Ryley’s assault and Pte Hunter’s DCM.
Historical tours with passion and a real understanding of both sides' points of view.
