Operation Epsom Having launched Operation Epsom on the 26th June 1944, the 15th Scottish division had managed to secure both crossings over the River Odon and the 11th Armoured Division advanced towards Hill 112. Over the next few days The battles raged for Hill 112 against the defending 12 SS Division.
The German's then launched the newly arrived 9th & 10th SS Panzer Divisions in a counter attack on the 29th June 1944.
The following photos show the ground advanced over by the 7th Kompanie 10 SS Regiment lead by obersturmfuhrer Riedel as he engaged 44 RTR on Hill 113. Also the route taken by the 22nd Panzer Grenadier regiment as the moved out to attack Gavrus Crossing point of the River Guigne at Aveny for 22nd Regiment.
